Who?
Poledance Antwerp was established in January 2018 and is still run by Marleen Cousin who teaches most classes.
She started taking pole dance classes at studio Pole Tricks in February 2012. As a former ballet dancer and dedicated ashtangi, she discovered very fast how much she loved athletic pole. After successfully graduating for several teacher trainings including exotic dance and athletic pole (ElevatED trainings ‘Pole 1&2' & 'Flexibility Instructor', Xpert training 'Pole 3&4' and ‘Formation Professionelle Exotic Dance’ at former Studio Françoise in Paris), 3 participations in the Belgian Pole Dance Championship (2015, 2016 and 2019) ànd following f2f workshops with numerous renomated poledancers (Andrea Ryff, Kirsty Sellars, Marion Crampe (2x), Bendy Kate, Kira Noire, Dan Rosen, Natasha Wang, Anastasia Skukhtorova, Doris Arnold, Stephanie Durant, Nicolas Casanova, Marco Oranje, Dineke Minten, Lara Michaels, Jordan Kensley, Tatjana Van Onna, Sasha Meow, Britt Bloem, Marlo Fisken, Lea Roth...) worldwide, she started to teach in 2018 when establishing her own pole studio in the heart of Antwerp city.
The PDAntwerp teacher team currently consists of 10 certified instructors: Britt, Dorien, Lieze, Helena, Margot, Moan, Ulyana, Abigail (flex & pole) Sigrun and Marleen.

Every polenewbie starts with beginner pole dance classes at the beginning of a new series and as a series progresses, you naturally evolve into a real Pole Ninja. As an absolute beginner, we only allow you to take pole dance classes at the start of a new series of lessons.
Classes at Poledance Antwerp follow a fixed pattern: each lesson starts with a warm-up in terms of the exercises we will teach that day, followed by a low-flow pole combo where we warm up ourselves & the dance poles, the actual lesson consisting of new moves, tricks & combos and we always end with a cooling down/stretching moment. Thus, as a class series progresses, you build up the necessary muscle strength and body control as you master the basic techniques. Once you get these, we can go ahead & start learning more demanding pole dance moves and combos. We experience how flexibility and strength come naturally this way and -most important- injuries will be avoided. Be aware that pole dancing, like many other sports, requires a lot of technique and perseverance. It is a very technical sport that requires serious perseverance in the beginning.
